Rivers United suffered a 3-0 defeat to holders Pyramids FC in their CAF Champions League opener in Cairo. A second-half hat-trick from Ahmed Atef sealed the win for the Egyptian side in the Group A clash.
In the group’s other match, Morocco’s RS Berkane also won 3-0 against Power Dynamos.
Rivers United will host Berkane next in a crucial matchday two fixture.
