Black Stars Held by Wales

Ghana’s national football team drew 1-1 with Wales in an international friendly played in Cardiff on Tuesday. Substitute Caleb Yirenkyi gave the Black Stars the lead in the second half after a quick attacking move. Wales controlled much of the match but struggled to break through Ghana’s defence. Lawrence Ati-Zigi made several important saves to keep Ghana ahead. The hosts finally equalised deep into stoppage time through Lewis Koumas.

The result extended Ghana’s winless run in friendly matches. Coach Carlos Queiroz used the game to assess players ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Ghana will open its World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto later this month.
