Mahama Team Aims for Scandal-Free Term

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem says President Mahama’s government will finish its four-year term without any scandal. He told accountants at a conference in Accra that appointees are following the President’s strict anti-corruption warnings. Mr. Ampem noted that the administration has gone 10 months without a scandal. He said the goal is to keep a clean record through the first, second, and third years. His comments follow the President’s strong caution to public officials on November 18. President Mahama warned that anyone caught engaging in corruption will face severe punishment. He said he reminds his ministers daily not to bring shame to the government. Mr. Ampem added that this firm stance is keeping all appointees alert and responsible.
