Mahama Attends Ouattara’s Swearing-In

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Abidjan from Doha to attend President Alassane Ouattara’s swearing-in ceremony. A statement from Jubilee House said he will return to Ghana later this morning after the event.

President Ouattara secured re-election in Côte d’Ivoire’s recent presidential poll. Provisional results announced on Monday showed he won a fourth term in office. The Independent Electoral Commission declared that the 83-year-old leader obtained 89.77% of the vote. Former Commerce Minister Jean-Louis Billon placed second with 3.09%.

Former First Lady Simone Gbagbo followed with 2.42% of the ballots. The results were officially read on state television by the Commission’s president, Ibrahime Coulibaly-Kuibiert.
