Cote d’Ivoire now ranks first in West Africa for mining attractiveness. According to the 2025 report by the Fraser Institute, published on February 26, 2026, the country scored 60.92 out of 100. It moved ahead of Ghana and Guinea in the sub-region. Across Africa, it ranks fifth behind Botswana, Morocco, Zambia and Tanzania. Globally, it is placed 47th, while the US state of Nevada remains number one. The ranking is based on mining policy perception and mineral potential.
Industry leaders such as Justin Tremain and Adam Oehlman have praised the country’s mining environment. The government aims to make Côte d’Ivoire Africa’s top gold producer within five years.
