Togo Introduces New Cement Quality Standards

Togo has officially introduced three new cement standards to strengthen product quality on the national market. The standards were presented to cement producers and importers during a meeting held in Lomé on March 16, 2026. The initiative is led by the Ministry Delegate for Investment Promotion and Economic Sovereignty through the High Authority for Quality and the Environment (HAUQE) and the Togolese Standardization Agency (ATN). Authorities say the move is part of efforts to improve construction materials and protect consumers.

The new rules set technical requirements for cement composition, performance, and testing methods. Officials explained that the standards are designed to ensure products meet reliable and recognised benchmarks. The government also aims to promote fair competition while preventing the circulation of substandard materials. In Togo’s cement market, major companies such as CimTogo, Cimco, WACEM, and Dangote Cement operate alongside other industry players.
