The Government of Ghana has welcomed Burkina Faso’s decision to resume tomato exports. The move follows the lifting of restrictions on Special Export Authorisations for fresh tomatoes. Officials say this will improve supply and stabilise prices in the local market. The decision comes after Burkina Faso met its domestic factory supply needs. Ghana expects the return of steady tomato imports to ease recent shortages.
The breakthrough is the result of ongoing talks between both countries. Key discussions took place during the WTO MC14 meeting in Yaoundé. Government says it will also boost local tomato production for long-term stability.
