Togo’s Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport in Lomé is celebrating ten years since its modern terminal opened in 2016. Over the decade, it has developed into an important regional transit hub in West Africa. Passenger traffic has doubled in five years, reaching about 1.6 million passengers annually. Much of this growth is supported by ASKY Airlines, which operates a wide regional network. Freight and aircraft movements have also increased, strengthening the airport’s logistics role.
Authorities are now planning expansion projects, including terminal upgrades and possible new facilities. A hotel project is also planned to improve services for transit passengers. To mark the anniversary, an “Aero Festival” is being held in Lomé with cultural and educational activities running until May 2.
