Teachers in Benue, Adamawa and Plateau States joined a nationwide rally on Tuesday, demanding the immediate release of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The protest was directed by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
In separate demonstrations, teachers marched to government houses and major streets, calling for stronger school security. The union warned it could embark on a nationwide strike if authorities fail to secure the release of victims and improve safety in schools.
