Prime Minister Faure Gnassingbé last week visited agricultural zones in Dankpen and Binah in northern Togo. He met farmers to discuss the state of agriculture and the goal of food sovereignty.
Producers shared the main difficulties affecting farming in these areas. The Prime Minister said solutions must be found jointly by the State and farmers. He stressed that increasing food production is a shared responsibility. The government is focusing on professionalizing ZAAPs to improve farmers’ living conditions.
Faure Gnassingbé said Togo has the capacity to feed its own population instead of relying on imports. During the visit, farmers received 12 tractors and 12 power tillers to support mechanization.
