Côte d’Ivoire has launched a major reform to better organize the small parcel delivery sector. The move targets safety and regulation issues linked to informal delivery riders.
Authorities say 80–90% of traffic violations in Abidjan involve parcel delivery drivers. La Poste de Côte d’Ivoire will play a central role in regulating and coordinating the sector. The reform aims to structure the industry while integrating existing delivery operators. A nationwide census of delivery drivers will begin in January 2026.
Registration will start online and later move to physical verification, free at the initial stage. The government says the goal is not control, but safer, more professional delivery services.
