Kenya has raised its long-term renewable energy target, aiming to increase generating capacity from 1,500 to 5,500 megawatts.
The expansion will involve nuclear, geothermal and hydropower projects to meet rising electricity demand.
Plans include 2,000 megawatts of nuclear power and 700 megawatts of hydropower, alongside additional geothermal capacity.
Lawmakers and experts say reforms are also needed to address grid losses, financing costs and electricity pricing.
