Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé addressed the nation during the 66th independence anniversary celebrations. He presented five key principles to guide government action in the coming years. These include responsibility, stronger sovereignty, social progress, future planning, and citizen participation. He also announced national consultations to prepare the 2026–2031 development roadmap. The initiative marks a new phase under the Fifth Republic’s economic planning.
The strategy will build on the “Protect, Unite, Transform” framework introduced earlier. Consultations will involve institutions, the private sector, and civil society to gather ideas. The new plan will replace the 2020–2025 program and be developed under tighter budget conditions.
