Togo plans to collect 10.38 billion FCFA in mining royalties in 2026. The revenue is expected to rise to 12.48 billion FCFA in 2027 and 13.62 billion FCFA in 2028.
This represents a nearly 31% increase over three years. Despite the growth, mining royalties remain a small part of the national budget, which exceeds 1,600 billion FCFA in 2026. Phosphate dominates Togo’s mining sector, with production exceeding 1.5 million tons in 2022. The country also has deposits of limestone, clinker, gold, and diamonds, though gold and diamonds are largely undeveloped.
Authorities expect new projects, such as the Nayega manganese mine, to drive future growth. The overall outlook points to a gradual increase in mining’s contribution to public finances.
