Textile producer UNIWAX has officially returned to Ivorian ownership. A majority stake in the company has been acquired by Compagnie Ivoirienne de Coton (COIC SA). The shares were previously held by Dutch textile group Vlisco. The deal marks a major shift in the country’s textile industry. UNIWAX is well known for producing traditional wax-print fabrics. The acquisition strengthens local control over a historic national brand.
Industry observers say the move could support job creation and local investment. Government officials see it as a positive step for economic sovereignty and industrial growth.
