West Africa Manufacturing Summit Targets Industrial Growth

Nigeria positions itself as West Africa’s leading industrial hub through strategic collaboration with international partners for the upcoming West Africa Industrialisation, Manufacturing and Trade Summit, scheduled for October 21-23, 2025, in Lagos.

The comprehensive summit, themed “Accelerating West Africa’s Sustainable Industrial Revolution for Economic Prosperity,” represents a significant opportunity for Nigeria to leverage its manufacturing potential while attracting substantial foreign investment to the region. Government projections indicate the event could generate billions in potential investment commitments across multiple industrial sectors.

Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, confirmed federal government support for the initiative, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to establishing itself as the sub-region’s primary manufacturing destination. The summit will showcase Nigeria’s industrial capabilities while facilitating crucial partnerships with international investors and technology providers.

Economic analysts project the event could unlock significant opportunities for small and medium enterprises, particularly in manufacturing sectors where Nigeria maintains competitive advantages. The summit’s focus on sustainable industrial practices aligns with global trends toward environmentally responsible manufacturing, potentially positioning Nigerian industries for premium market access.

According to industry projections, successful industrial expansion could create over 500,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, logistics, and supporting service sectors. This employment generation would contribute substantially to Nigeria’s economic diversification objectives while reducing dependence on oil revenues.

Coleman Cables and Wires Executive Director Michael Onafowokan emphasized the critical need for Nigeria to transition from raw material exports to finished goods production, highlighting the substantial value addition potential within domestic manufacturing sectors.

The summit will feature exhibitions from major industrial players, technology demonstrations, and investment forums designed to facilitate direct business-to-business connections. International participation includes representatives from Europe, Asia, and other African nations, expanding Nigeria’s industrial partnership network.

DMG Events Country Director Wemimo Oyelana described the summit as a platform to “unlock West Africa’s true industrial potential,” noting that strategic decisions made during the event could shape the region’s industrial trajectory for decades.
