Togo Opens 4th FESMA Festival

Togo launched the 4th edition of the La Marmite International Festival (FESMA) on August 6 in Lomé. First held in 2022, the event celebrates Togolese and African cuisine. For one week, chefs, farmers, and food industry players will showcase the country’s rich gastronomy.

The 2025 theme, Women, Agriculture and Food, highlights the vital yet often overlooked role of women in farming and cooking. Festival Commissioner Jean-Paul Agboh-Ahouélété aims to make Lomé “the capital of African gastronomy.”

Dishes from all five regions will be featured, with special attention to local rice and “Sodabi,” a traditional drink. Around 500,000 visitors are expected until August 10.
