Togo’s National Assembly has adopted an amending finance law for the 2025 financial year. The revised budget raises total state spending to 2,436 billion FCFA.
This represents an increase of 39.4 billion FCFA, or 1.6 percent, over the initial budget. Finance Minister Essowè Georges Barcola said the revision responds to current economic realities. He explained that the goal is to preserve budget balance while strengthening social priorities. Social spending now accounts for more than half of total budgetary allocations.
Additional funds will support electricity access, universal health insurance, and education quality. The revised budget also maintains investments aimed at job creation, especially for youth and women.
