The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 132 suspects ahead of the festive season. The arrests followed special swoops and motor traffic operations across parts of the Accra Metropolis.
Police also retrieved motorcycles, suspected stolen items, and narcotic substances during the exercises. One operation on December 18 at Alojo near Nima led to the arrest of four suspects. Another swoop on December 21 within the Accra Central Division resulted in 15 arrests. A separate motor traffic operation around East Legon and the Airport area led to the arrest of 36 motorbikes.
All suspects are currently being screened, with some to be prosecuted and others released if cleared. Police say the operations aim to ensure a safe and crime-free Christmas and beyond.
