Japan plans to increase the number of students and researchers it hosts from Togo. The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Professor Gado Tchangbedji and the Japanese ambassador to Togo, Junji Gomakudo.
Both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in higher education and research. They also discussed creating direct academic links between Togolese public universities and Japanese institutions. The partnership will promote joint research in technology and applied sciences. Scholarship programmes run by the Japan International Cooperation Agency will also be improved.
Officials aim to simplify the application process and increase the number of beneficiaries. Priority areas for the scholarships include engineering, robotics, and agronomy.
