The government of Togo has introduced new measures to regulate cashew nut marketing. The decision was adopted in December 2025 and announced this week. It was signed by Badanam Patoki and Antoine Gbegbeni. Under the new rules, buyers must supply at least one-third of cashew volumes to local processors.
This must be proven with official delivery receipts before any export. Authorities say the policy is meant to boost local processing and add value. Exporters who fail to comply risk suspension and seizure of shipments. The measure complements a new export tax introduced in January 2026.
