Togo has introduced new rules to regulate its forestry sector. The decree was issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Forest Resources, Coastal Protection and Climate Change. The law explains how to obtain permits, approvals, and certificates. It includes rules for logging, transport, and trade in forest products. Reforestation certificates will be given to plantation owners after three years.
They must also get permission before cutting down trees. Import and export of forest products now require official licenses. The policy aims to protect forests and reduce environmental damage.
