Unilever Ghana PLC has launched a nationwide recycling project through its Pepsodent brand to support schools and protect the environment. The initiative collects used toothpaste tubes and converts them into furniture like desks and chairs. It aims to reduce plastic waste while improving learning conditions in underserved communities. The first set of recycled furniture was donated to Bethel Presbyterian School. The donation was received in partnership with the Ghana Education Service SHEP unit and school officials.
Unilever says the project builds on over 20 years of oral health education by Pepsodent in Ghana. The company is encouraging the public to drop used toothpaste tubes in designated recycling bins nationwide. Officials say each tube recycled will help protect the environment while supporting education for children in need.
