Algeria has announced three days of national mourning following the death of former President Liamine Zeroual, who led the country during a turbulent civil war period.
Zeroual, born in 1941, played a key role in Algeria’s independence struggle and later oversaw democratic elections. He remained widely respected after leaving office in 1999.
