Cocoa Initiative Links Economy and Forest Protection

As the world’s leading cocoa producer, Côte d’Ivoire faces pressure to reduce deforestation. The programme seeks to combine economic development with climate action. It encourages farmers to adopt practices that protect forests while maintaining productivity. Officials say the initiative will help improve traceability and sustainability in the cocoa sector.

The project is also expected to attract climate financing and private-sector support. Authorities believe it will strengthen the country’s reputation as a responsible global cocoa supplier.
