In his address to the nation, Faure Gnassingbé presented the main directions of Togo’s Fifth Republic. He reminded citizens that the country is now a parliamentary democracy.
The President of the Council set three priorities for government action: protect, unite, and transform. He emphasized that security is essential for economic and social development. Decentralization was highlighted as a key part of the new governance. Communes and regions will play a larger role in local development.
Gnassingbé also called for a calmer and more inclusive political climate. He concluded by affirming his commitment to transforming the economy starting from the local territories.
