Togo’s President of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé, received DRC President Félix Tshisekedi in Lomé on January 12. The visit formed part of a working mission focused on bilateral and regional cooperation.
Both leaders reviewed progress in ties between Lomé and Kinshasa. They also discussed wider challenges of interregional integration in Africa. President Tshisekedi praised Faure Gnassingbé’s mediation role under the African Union. The mediation helped secure a peace agreement between the DRC and Rwanda last November.
Talks also assessed commitments toward stabilising eastern DRC. A follow-up technical coordination summit is scheduled in Lomé on January 17.
