The Federal Government says it is weighing diplomatic options over the continued deportation of foreign nationals from South Africa. Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu said crisis response units have been activated in Johannesburg and Pretoria to assist Nigerians.
She noted that many Nigerians view the situation as troubling given Nigeria’s support for South Africa’s liberation struggle. Authorities are also coordinating support and reintegration measures for citizens willing to return home.
