Fuel Price Floor Rises in March

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has raised the minimum fuel price levels for the first pricing window of March 2026. From March 1 to 15, petrol increases from GH¢10.24 to GH¢10.46 per litre, while diesel moves up from GH¢11.34 to GH¢11.42.
LPG, however, drops slightly from GH¢9.43 to GH¢9.38 per kilogram. The new price floor means no Oil Marketing Company can sell below the approved rates. The NPA introduced this policy in April 2024 to prevent price distortions and promote fairness in the downstream sector. Data from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) show petrol could rise further to about GH¢12.04 per litre, while diesel may reach GH¢13.22.
The changes are linked to rising global crude prices, with Brent crude trading near $71 per barrel amid geopolitical tensions. The slight strengthening of the Ghana cedi helped reduce the full impact of international price increases on local fuel prices.
