John Dramani Mahama has ordered a major increase in recruitment into Ghana’s security services. The planned intake will rise from 20,000 to 40,000 personnel over four years. This decision followed a high-level meeting with security chiefs and government officials. The President stressed that the process must be fair, transparent, and accountable. Key agencies involved include the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Ghana National Fire Service.
High ranking officials such as the Inspector General of Police and other security heads attended the meeting. The move comes after criticism over the sale of over 500,000 recruitment vouchers. Only about 5,000 applicants were initially expected to be selected in the current phase.
