Ghana Plans GH¢10bn Road Bond

Ghana plans to raise GH¢10 billion through its first domestic infrastructure bond. The money will be used mainly to build and improve roads and interchanges nationwide. The bond will be issued in two parts of GH¢5 billion each this year. Electronic road tolls are expected to help repay the bond without increasing public debt. The plan supports President Mahama’s Big Push infrastructure programme.

Investor confidence is improving after Ghana’s recent debt crisis. Inflation has fallen sharply, and the cedi strengthened last year. Better roads could reduce costs and boost growth for businesses and traders.
