The Executive Secretary of the Rassemblement des Houphouëtistes pour la Démocratie et la Paix (RHDP), Cissé Ibrahima Bacongo, met with the media on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the party’s headquarters in Rue Lepic. The discussion focused on recent socio-political developments, especially rumours circulating on social media about the health of the President.
Bacongo strongly rejected these claims, describing them as unfounded and misleading. He emphasized that information about the President should only come from official sources due to the importance of the office. Speaking on the President’s age, he stated that being 84 years old does not affect his ability to govern. He added that the President continues to actively lead key state meetings, including the Council of Ministers and national security sessions.
According to him, this regular involvement proves the President’s commitment to managing the country. Bacongo also accused some opposition figures of spreading false information, saying such actions reflect a lack of clear political ideas.
