SONKO QUITS SENEGAL’S NEW GOVERNMENT

Former Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has announced that his PASTEF party will not participate in the country’s new government. The decision follows disagreements with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye over the party’s future role.

The development comes as Senegal grapples with a debt crisis and seeks to revive talks with the International Monetary Fund. Analysts warn the political split could complicate planned economic reforms.
