The Women in Energy Network-Africa (WEN-Africa) has been holding a high-level meeting in Lomé since January 13. The conference focuses on addressing gender inequalities in Africa’s energy sector.
It brings together institutional partners and key energy stakeholders from across the continent. Discussions highlight WEN-Africa’s mission, achievements, and shared partner experiences. Participants are examining good practices and the benefits of collaboration in reducing inequality. World Bank energy director Kwawu Gaba stressed the need to amplify women’s voices in energy policy.
Togo’s Energy Minister Robert Koffi Messan Eklo described the meeting as a step toward inclusive energy transition. Launched in 2024, WEN-Africa aims to boost women’s participation and employment in the energy sector.
