Togo has received two new mobile clinics to improve access to specialized care in rural areas. The units, dedicated to ophthalmology and oral health, were officially handed over on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in Lomé.
Health Minister Professor Tchin Darré said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to bringing quality care closer to citizens. The mobile clinics are fully equipped to diagnose and treat eye and dental conditions. They are expected to benefit populations far from hospitals by offering direct specialized services. The investment, worth $810,082 (about 490 million FCFA), was financed by the Islamic Development Bank with UNDP support.
It forms part of the PARUSCT programme to strengthen community care and health units. The move aligns with Togo’s National Health Development Plan (PNDS) to reduce inequalities in healthcare access.
