Twelve people are set to appear before the Tarkwa Circuit Court for allegedly damaging manganese exports, has been severely affected by illegal mining.

Investigations found that miners had removed the soil beneath a railway bridge, leaving the metal tracks hanging. Officials say parts of the line have collapsed into nearby water bodies. Residents accuse some railway officers of neglect, claiming they said the line would be abandoned for a new route.
Community members have started efforts to reclaim the affected sites. Police confirmed the arrest of twelve suspects who will appear in court on Tuesday, October 7.
