Fofana Gets Expanded Youth and Sports Role in Togo

President Faure Gnassingbé has reappointed Abdul-Fahd Fofana as Minister Delegate with a broader mandate for Youth, Sports, and the Social and Solidarity Economy. He will work under Minister Mazamesso Assih to promote youth inclusion, sports, and social cohesion.

Fofana, an economist with a PhD, previously worked with the Tony Blair Institute and the OECD. He is also the founder of Youth for Youth (Y4Y), which supports youth training across West Africa. More than 60% of Togo’s population is under 25, making his new role crucial for job creation. The ministry plans to expand vocational training, entrepreneurship, and access to finance for young people.

In sports, Fofana aims to improve regional facilities and grassroots development. His appointment reflects Togo’s goal of turning economic growth into inclusive opportunities for its youth.
