Government Rejects Claims of Separatist Group Operating Locally

The Ivorian government has dismissed online reports suggesting that a Malian separatist movement had opened an office in Côte d’Ivoire. Officials said circulating videos and photos could not be verified and warned the public about deep-fake misinformation.

Communication Minister Amadou Coulibaly stressed that security agencies found no evidence supporting the alleged presence. He urged citizens to rely on credible sources instead of social-media rumours. Authorities say the situation remains under close monitoring to prevent panic and misinformation. The government emphasized that Côte d’Ivoire remains committed to regional peace and security.

Analysts believe the quick response was meant to reassure the public amid ongoing instability in the Sahel. Officials concluded that no separatist activity has been detected within Ivorian territory.
