Togo has started preparing its new national development roadmap for 2026–2031. The process began after a two-day government seminar held on April 7–8, 2026. President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is leading the strategy built on three pillars: Protect, Unite, and Transform. The plan aims to improve coordination between ministries and focus on high-impact projects. It also seeks to deliver results that citizens can clearly feel in their daily lives.
The previous roadmap achieved about 68.79% completion, affected by crises like COVID-19 pandemic and the War in Ukraine. Although public debt has dropped below 70% of GDP, the budget deficit is still a concern. Economic growth is projected to stay strong, but institutions like the International Monetary Fund remain cautious.
