Togo has inaugurated the Regional Agricultural Mechanization Center (CRMA) in Tchitchao, in the Kara region, on April 24, 2026. The ceremony was led by the President of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé, as part of the country’s 66th independence anniversary celebrations. The center was built on a three-hectare site through a public–private partnership with the Bonkoungou Distribution Group (BKG). The project is being implemented in two phases, with the first phase already completed. The completed phase includes warehouses with a 9,000-ton capacity, administrative buildings, training rooms, and practice areas.
The second phase will focus on equipment, operation, and maintenance, with an estimated investment of over 13 billion CFA francs. The center aims to modernize farming methods and improve productivity, especially in agricultural development zones. Officials say the project will reduce labor hardship, attract youth to agriculture, and help cut food imports.
