DRC Seeks Togo’s Support for OIF Race

Democratic Republic of the Congo is seeking support from Togo ahead of the upcoming Organisation internationale de la Francophonie Secretary General election. The request was presented in Lomé to Faure Gnassingbé on April 8, 2026. The DRC has nominated Juliana Amato Lumumba for the position. She is competing against Louise Mushikiwabo of Rwanda. Congolese Foreign Minister Crispin Mbadu Phanzu formally made the appeal.

Lumumba presented her vision for a more inclusive Francophonie during the meeting. She also outlined projects to strengthen the organization’s global influence. The OIF Secretary General will be elected in November for a four-year term.
