The president of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana, Stephen Kwarteng Yeboah, has warned that politics is increasingly affecting Ghana’s insurance sector. He said success in the industry now appears linked to political affiliation. He described the situation as unhealthy and explained how growing political division in the country has entered the insurance business space. According to him, people now feel they need to belong to either side of the political divide to thrive.
His comments follow concerns raised by Sam Jonah about political interference and unethical practices. At an IBAG conference in Accra, Sir Sam Jonah warned that the industry’s integrity is under serious threat. Mr Yeboah added that the situation is even worse in the brokerage sector, raising fears about long-term stability.
