The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted 8,725 kilogrammes of powdered tramadol worth more than ₦6.98 billion at Apapa Port in Lagos. NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said the shipment, declared as maize starch and imported from India, was discovered during a joint examination with customs officials at the APM terminals.
Other operations resulted in the arrest of an 85-year-old woman allegedly found with 179 kilogrammes of cannabis in Edo State, the destruction of 7,500 kilogrammes of skunk in Ondo State, and the recovery of nearly 900,000 tramadol capsules in Bauchi State. Further raids in Lagos, Kaduna and Kano led to additional arrests and seizures of diazepam injections, Molly tablets and tramadol concealed in vehicles and market stores.
