Togo has launched its National Clean Cooking Access Program in Lomé earlier this week. The initiative was introduced by Robert Eklo, Minister Delegate for Energy and Mineral Resources. The program aims to expand access to clean cooking solutions to 80% by 2030. It aligns with the National Energy Pact (Mission 300) strategy for energy transformation. International partners like Global Enabling Environment Facility and European Union are supporting the effort.
Currently, many households in Togo rely heavily on biomass fuels for cooking. The program seeks to improve health, reduce environmental damage, and enhance living conditions. It is also expected to create jobs and boost local businesses in clean energy solutions.
