Togo has started developing its National Clean Cooking Access Program to expand access to clean cooking solutions. The program was launched in Lomé by Minister Delegate for Energy and Mineral Resources, Robert Eklo. Its goal is to increase access to clean cooking to 80% of households by 2030, in line with the National Energy Pact (Mission 300). Preparatory studies are being conducted with support from the Global Enabling Environment Facility (GEEF). Consultants from EED Advisory, commissioned by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, will assist the government alongside national stakeholders.
The European Union will also support the program through the ReCCAWA initiative. The program aims to reduce dependence on biomass fuels and tackle economic, health, environmental, and social challenges. It is expected to diversify energy sources, modernize the energy mix, and create jobs, especially for women and youth in the clean cooking sector.
