Lomé hosts regional talks on local budget management

Lomé is hosting a major regional workshop on local government budget management in West Africa. The two-day event, taking place on November 3rd and 4th, brings together experts and officials from several countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Senegal.

Organized by the Federation of Municipalities of Togo and the CCT-UEMOA, the meeting is supported by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ). Its main goal is to improve financial governance and ensure better access to basic services for citizens. Participants will exchange ideas and best practices to strengthen local management systems. Sessions will cover innovative budgeting methods and the fundamentals of effective resource planning.

Organizers emphasized that local budgets are vital tools for managing development and public spending. The event highlights Togo’s growing role as a hub for regional cooperation and public sector innovation.
