The Federal Government says it will seek compensation from South Africa for businesses, vehicles, and other properties abandoned by Nigerians fleeing xenophobic attacks. Officials are documenting affected assets to support future claims against the South African government.
Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner, Alexander Ajayi, said the evacuation exercise goes beyond bringing citizens home. Another 271 Nigerians arrived in Lagos, while many returnees appealed for financial assistance after losing their livelihoods in the violence.
