Uganda has launched a 100-day crackdown on mechanically unsafe taxis operating in Kampala. Authorities say vehicles in dangerous condition will be impounded and owners will not be allowed to reclaim them.
Transport Minister Fred Byamukama says there will be no negotiation with operators who fail to comply. The operation will begin in Greater Kampala before extending to other parts of the country.
