Burkina Faso’s military government has defended a compulsory military-style training programme for journalists, despite criticism from Reporters Without Borders. More than 40 journalists completed the latest six-day patriotic immersion course.
RSF says journalists should not be turned into soldiers or mouthpieces for the war effort. Authorities argue that journalists have a patriotic responsibility as the country continues its fight against armed insurgencies.
