The Initiative for Research, Innovation and Advocacy in Development has called on governments, developers, and residents to adopt stronger measures against recurring floods. The group warned that flooding has become a major environmental and governance challenge across Nigeria.
It blamed recent flooding in parts of Lagos on blocked drainage channels, illegal construction, and poor urban planning. The organisation also urged authorities to strengthen early warning systems and enforce planning regulations.
